Kelsey Fitzgerald is communications coordinator for the Native Resilience project, where she works with Indigenous storytellers to explore climate change impacts and adaptation actions on the lands and communities in which they live. She has a background in biology and ecology and spent her early career working on wildlife biology, wildland fire and ecological restoration projects around the western U.S. She completed her master’s degree at UNR’s Reynolds School of Journalism in 2015, with a focus on environmental journalism and citizen science. She has since worked as a freelance journalist in Reno covering science and the environment, a science writer and communications officer for the Desert Research Institute, and director of the Hitchcock Project for Visualizing Science in the Reynolds School of Journalism at UNR. Her experience includes writing, photography, podcasting, web design, graphic design, multimedia storytelling, editing, and teaching.
