Description

In this session, presenters from DRI and the Native Resilience project will share examples, resources, and lessons learned from the “Resilience Reporters” journalism internship program, and an educational module for a “Climate Pop-up Art Show” created for K-12 classrooms. “Resilience Reporters” creatively express the impacts of environmental change on Native peoples and landscapes, highlight resilience actions, and broaden our understanding of how climate information might best be communicated. A panel of speakers from DRI and the Native Resilience project will discuss ways in which storytelling and other types of creative work can deepen students’ understanding of complex scientific data, and share climate data and other resources that might be useful to teachers. Attendees will come away with a greater understanding of the role of storytelling in climate resilience and the many ways in which climate information can be communicated to promote a more inclusive dialogue around environmental change.
