Laura Smith Fillmore
Laura Fillmore, M.Ed., k-12 art educator, CTE digital video, graphic design, and photography instructor, she also taught AP 2D Design. At WNC she taught digital photography. Retired from teaching, she’s making art and involved in creating new curriculum on interdisciplinary design teams from the Center for the Study of the Force Majeure and the Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation. Her current projects are working on an NEA mural at Rosewood with Indigenous artists, organizing visioning for a boundless Tahoe futurism conference, supporting/creating curriculum in around “good fire”—low intensity cultural burning—and memorializing “Sagehen: A Proving Ground” in honor of Helen and Newton Harrison.
