Description

While the future cannot be predicted, known or fully controlled, at the Stanford d.school we believe that all educators and students can – and must be – shapers of their own individual and collective futures. Futures Thinking is a literacy with discrete skills that allow us to think expansively about what the future might look like in order to make better decisions in the present. This workshop is a crash course on the skills needed to teach like a futurist. You will explore strategies to stoke bold imagination in your students and foster adaptive learning that allows students to become comfortable navigating ambiguity. By embracing Futures Thinking in your classroom, you will prepare students with critical and creative thinking strategies needed not only to thrive beyond school, but to envision and shape the futures they want to bring to life.
