Devon Young is an educator-designer who operates with a deep belief in the power of empathy to drive change. She currently runs Designing Learning where she provides coaching, consultation, and design support to K-12 schools interested in bringing design methods and mindsets into their teaching and learning practices. Most recently Devon worked on a Stanford University d.school project that focused on developing and launching a free Positive Deviance for Educators’ toolkit, with the hopes of bringing asset-based problem solving to K-12 schools. Previously she worked in SFUSD Middle Schools, and spent over 7 years as the Program Manager and Learning Experience Designer for the d.school’s K12 Lab where she helped launch initiatives like the Shadow a Student Challenge and the Discover Design Thinking workshop series. She has a Bachelor's degree from the University of San Francisco and a Masters in Educational Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship from UNC Chapel Hill.
