Previously, he served as the Museum's Associate Curator of Education and, from 2008-2016, as the Charles N. Mathewson Curator of Education, a role in which he expanded education and public programs, refined the docent program, shaped the Center for Art + Environment as well as its triennial Art + Environment Conferences, and initiated the early development of the Museum’s STEAM initiatives. During this time, Robertson also curated the exhibitions Modernist Maverick: The Architecture of William L. Pereira and Seeking an Expression of Place: The Architecture of Lake Tahoe, part of the Museum's 2015 encyclopedic survey, Tahoe: A Visual History.
Colin earned his M.A. in English (Literature & Environment) from the University of Nevada, Reno, and his B.A. in English with a Minor in Art from Saint John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota. In 2016, Colin’s interest in design, urban planning and environmental sustainability led him to join the Don J. Clark Group in Reno as Director of Communications and Strategy, and later as Vice President of Switch WORKS at Switch, a global data center company. From 2019-2023 he served as the founding Administrator of the Nevada Division of Outdoor Recreation, a state agency dedicated to fostering Nevada’s outdoor recreation economy and promoting Nevada's incredible outdoor opportunities and public lands.
